New Forever Knight Movie - Vamping Out

So for those following the progress of the movie, they have been lately working on what the vampire characters will look like once they are vamped out.  They are still tweaking the details, but the new pictures of what they have so far for Nick have been posted on their site. 

Looks like there will be physical changes, the most obvious being upper fangs and colored eyes (red).  The skin area around the eyes becomes darker, which enhances the eyes and makes them more noticeable.  There will also be, how shall I say it, alterations to the nose, brow, and eye area.  If you are familiar with the facial changes to the vampires from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, picture that, but some more.

Hmmm. One of the things I liked about FK was the way they strictly limited the vamped out look—basically to fangs and (sometimes) eye colour. I dare say their motive was financial. Still, humanocentric of me or not, I think it's easier to see the characters sympathetically if they don't look stereotypically "monstrous". Or, to put it another way, it's too easy to mentally split the character into good and evil sides (e.g. Angel vs Angelus) if there's a major difference in appearance.

Yes, I think the "monstrous" part threw me off when I saw it, and it is too easy to become unsympathetic when the character looks that much different.

I'm not feeling that at all.

I know it's sacrilegious to say but I've never cared for Buffy. Did I respect its storytelling...sure, but I never warmed up to it. I especially never warmed up to the physical transformation of the vampires on Buffy and Angel.

I was so willing to sit through this iteration of Forever Knight, but now I feel like it's going to be a real chore if that horrid vamp look is going to be a big part of it.

Yes. I was quite shocked when I first saw it. Too scary for me.

Never saw a lot of Buffy or Angel, and didn't particularly like the vampire look. Generally, it is too easy to not care and distance ourselves from the character if they look that much different than human.

Hopefully, they will change the look.
